The hike to bondhusvatnet is very popular and it’s very easy. From the parking lot on a well-maintained gravel road, called Isvegen, you can reach Bondhusvatnet at an elevation of 190 meters above sea level. This road was constructed in 1863 to transport ice from Bondhusbrea down to the fjord for exportation to other countries. Over time, it has been maintained and transformed into an beautiful tourist road. Furthermore, there is a trail that runs alongside the lake and ascends to Vetledalen at an elevation of 320 meters above sea level. This trail allows you to get closer to Bondhusbrea. The hike is 2,3 km one way and takes about 2 hours in total.
