Description

Ridderspranget is a narrow and breathtaking gorge. It's a place where the mighty river Sjoa rushes down, creating a natural spectacle. According to a fascinating legend collected by Ivar Kleiven, it tells the tale of a brave knight named Sigvat from Kvie in Valdres. Sigvat, driven by his desires, abducted a beautiful young woman named Skårvangssolen from another knight named Ivar Gjesling in Sandbu, Vågå. As Sigvat made his escape on horseback, Ivar pursued him relentlessly, eventually catching up at the edge of Ridderspranget. However, in a remarkable display of courage and daring, Sigvat's horse leaped over the treacherous gorge with Skårvangssolen on its back, preventing Ivar and his men from following suit. It's an enchanting tale that speaks of bravery, adventure, and the power of determination.
